Goodwood Revival Classic Car Auction Sep 16th

Published September 16th, 2005

The 1928 Bugatti Type 35B that won the inaugural Monaco Grand Prix is the star lot today before this year’s Goodwood Revival. Bonhams, the auctioneers, estimates that the car, on its first trip out of France, having been on loan for the past decade to the late Prince Rainier’s motor museum, will fetch between £2.25 million and £2.75 million. The car was driven by William Grover-Williams, a legendary figure who was a secret agent in France during the Second World War. The present owner bought the car in the early 1950s for less than £100.
