Man jailed and banned for 5 years over online auction scam

A fraudster caught selling fake sports memorabilia on the internet after Manchester United stars helped crack his £30,000 scam has been jailed.
Manchester Utd boss Sir Alex Ferguson and captain Roy Keane signed a club shirt to prove one sold by Robert Housden on eBay was a fake.
Housden, 20, of Chapel Street, Shepshed, Leics, admitted conning 73 people, Birmingham Crown Court heard.
He was jailed for 16 months and banned from internet trading for five years.

Housden’s scam included the sale of a pair of boots with a fake David Beckham autograph and a Brazil shirt with the false signatures of World Cup stars Pele, Zico and Ronaldo.

Gambling addict Housden pleaded guilty to 16 counts of deception at a previous hearing and asked for a further 57 similar matters to be taken into account.
