The original lyrics, scrawled on a hotel envelope, will be auctioned off at the Bonhams auction house on Nov. 16 in London and are said to have an estimated value of between $300,000 to $350,000 Cdn.
Lennon hand-wrote the lyrics on the envelope and the song was recorded in the hotel room with guests such as Timothy Leary, Tommy Smothers and Petula Clark. The song went to become an anthem of the peace movement worldwide.
