Beach Boys ‘theft’ claim denied
Published October 27th, 2005
A UK auction house has denied claims by the Beach Boys that memorabilia put up for sale was stolen from the band.
Cooper Owen, which is handling the sale of the 28 lots, says the vendor bought the items legitimately from a representative of the band.
Managing director John Collins said: “No proof of theft has been offered.”
The band, who say US police are investigating their allegations, have threatened to sue Cooper Owen, the vendor and anyone who buys the items.
