Barnardo’s appoints Blue Ocean for eBay drop-off campaign

Barnardo’s is to begin selling off stock on eBay, with those donating getting a slice of the selling price, and is launching a mailing campaign asking people to send their clutter to the charity to raise much-needed funds.
Barnardo’s is working with Blue Ocean Solutions to promote and manage its first eBay drop-off facility, in partnership with Auctioning4u.
Blue Ocean is to launch the campaign throughout the children’s charity’s 24 shops in Greater London from this month. A mailing will be sent to 5,000 households in the area asking for people to “clear their clutter”.
The owner of every auctionable item that is taken into a Barnardo’s shop will receive up to two-thirds of the selling price, with Barnardo’s receiving up to three quarters.
Sellers are also encouraged to make an additional voluntary donation to the 116-year-old charity from the proceeds of the sale.
Auctioning4u.co.uk will handle the sales on eBay for the charity. The site already works with consumers, businesses and other charities who want to outsource the auctioning process.
