Online wine auction launched in the UK
Published November 17th, 2005
Recently launched at the London Wine Show in Islington, Cellar21.com is a new ‘eBay’ style online wine auction that lists alcoholic drinks for sale to both the general public and trade buyers.
Booze is currently not allowed to be sold via eBay and Cellar21 hope to capitalise on this exclusion to establish themselves as a leading drinks auction service in the UK.
The majority of the sellers who have their goods listed for sale on cellar 21 are smaller importers and producers and their wines tend to be ‘hard to find’, more exclusive labels.
The site claims to offer ease of use and navigation as well as providing a wide variety of wines ranging from a single bottle of 1945 Chateau Mouton Rothschild Annee de la Victoire 1er Cru with a reserve of £2,750 to a case of 6 bottles of Villa Valentina Merlot Del Veneto (2004) starting at only £12.
