Wrong date China fetches thousands

A Derby-based china manufacturer has raised more than £5,000 for charity - by selling Royal Wedding souvenirs depicting the wrong date.

When Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles changed their big day from 8 to 9 April because of the Pope’s funeral, many items had already been made.

Royal Crown Derby held a sealed bid auction of 20 souvenirs.

The money raised will be handed over to The Prince’s Trust and the National Osteoporosis Society on 1 December.

Each of the souvenirs auctioned raised several times the value of the same items which were correctly dated, the company said.

It added that the Prince’s Trust and the National Osteoporosis Society - of which the Duchess of Cornwall is President - were obvious choices.
