Warwickshire Police host stolen goods auction

Goods stolen from Warwickshire homes and businesses will go under the hammer this weekend.

Warwickshire Police is disposing of items recovered from crime scenes, but where officers cannot trace the owners.

Fishing tackle, electrical goods, tools and jewellery, will be on sale, with the money raised going to charity.

More obscure items include a bird scarer with two gas cylinders and a battery, a steel tow rope, a pair of binoculars, plus new clothes and shoes.

Items that fail to sell go to charities such as Oxfam and the Salvation Army.

Tool Aid will accept damaged tools, typewriters and knitting machines, restoring them to their original state before sending them to the Third World.

Damaged cycles will be given to The Inside Out Trust who work with inmates at Long Lartin prison, Worcestershire, to restore them.

Auctioneers from Philip Brothers Auction House will host the Saturday sale at Grisewold Farm, Bearley Road, Snitterfield, Stratford-upon-Avon.

Alistair Morgan who coordinates the auction for Warwickshire Police said: “Ideally when goods are recovered from criminals, we like to reconcile every item back to its original owner.

“But in practice this isn’t always possible because items are not always clearly marked or they don’t have identification marks on them.
