EBay UK blames users for fraud

The online auctioneer eBay has admitted that personal accounts are being hijacked by fraudsters, but claim it is the responsibility of eBay users themselves to prevent this.

Two decanters of rare whisky are being auctioned by a Norfolk-based magazine team to raise money for charity.
Malt whisky was collected from several distilleries by Whisky Magazine for the Make Poverty History campaign.

eBay banning money transfers

eBay is banning the use of money transfer providers such as Western Union and MoneyGram in a bid to prevent online fraud.
The auction site is working with the Metropolitan Police, and from mid-January it is unlikely that any police investigation will take place into eBay fraud cases where a money transfer service has been used.
