Hatfield Council worker in court for eBay scam

Ian Short admitted stealing one monitor and three laptops from Welwyn Hatfield Council and a second charge of receiving £1,900 from their sale.Central Herts Magistrates’ Court heard the stolen goods were worth £2,500.
Short was handed a 12-week suspended prison sentence for each offence, to run consecutively.
He was also ordered to pay £2,500 in compensation, £55 costs, serve 80 hours unpaid community work and submit to a 12 month supervision order.
A Hatfield Council spokesman said Short was employed through an agency as an IT contractor, but refused to comment further.
