Champions League medal sold on eBay - probe launched

Published December 10th, 2005

LIVERPOOL FC and Uefa have launched a probe after a Champions League winner’s medal was apparently sold on internet auction site eBay. The medal, complete with the official Uefa insignia and the words Champions League 2005, was bought for £1,500. Efforts are under way to establish if the medal is genuine and if so, who it was presented to. Only 25 winners medals were handed out on the night. The Ebay auctioneer claimed it was presented to a member of the Liverpool team. But it could be a runner-up medal belonging to one of the AC Milan team.
