The autographs of two famous astronauts are being sold by a retired RAF air-traffic controller who has owned them for 40 years.
John Chester, of Spalding, Lincs, is sending the signatures of the first two men to walk on the moon – Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin – to auction.

The autographs of the Apollo 11 men are expected to fetch about £500 at the Lincoln auction on 7 January.

The autographs of another 21 astronauts will also be up for auction.

Auctioneer Clinton Slingsby, of Thos Mawer and Son Ltd, said he estimated the signatures of the Apollo 11 astronauts would fetch £500, though they could go as high as £800.

Signatures from any of the dozen men who walked on the moon between 1969 and 1972 remain popular with collectors.
