European First For Irish Market As eBay Store Opens

Published February 1st, 2006

Europe’s first iSold It store has opened in Dublin, and plans are in the pipeline to open 200 of the eBay drop-off stores in locations across the UK, Northern Ireland, and the Republic.
The new business franchise owners of the iSold It concept plan to have up to 40 stores open in Ireland by 2010, generating approximately 200 new jobs. Entry into Ireland and the UK represents the company’s first steps towards developing the important European market, and furthers the company’s international expansion, which began with the opening of franchises in Canada last October. Ken Scully, president and chief executive, said: “Buying on eBay is hugely popular in the UK and Ireland, but only a very small percentage of people in either country actually use the site to sell.
