Lady Diana Silk gown

AN AUCTION company is preparing to sell a gown made of what is believed to be the same silk used for Princess Diana’s wedding dress.
Staff at World Wide Auctions, based in Starts Hill Road, Locksbottom are now searching for written confirmation that the claim is genuine.
Co-chairman Daniel Bermingham said: “I want provenance on anything I’m selling. I’m selling to a world wide audience and the facts have got to be right. With the American market anything to do with Princess Diana is ridiculous.
“It could get quite a few thousand pounds.”
A vendor, who does not want to be named, came forward with the dress she bought from a retired fashion designer who worked for the royal family.
Auction house bosses are now waiting to hear from the silk company that made the material for Diana’s dress to see whether it is from the same batch. The claim has already been denied by designer of the Princess of Wales’ gown, Elizabeth Emanuel.
World Wide Auctions operate through eBay, and sell a wide variety of items from stuffed fish to valuable war memorabilia.
