MG Rover Auction - March 25

Published March 16th, 2006

Hundreds of pieces of MG Rover motorsport history, including cars, are to go on sale at the MG Sport and Racing auction on March 25. One of the most amazing items is the 765bhp MG ZT-T estate which achieved a speed of 225mph during a run at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. It’s expected to fetch around £20,000.

Also included are the unique Cosworth-engined MGTF 500 (with a guide price of £20,000-£25,000), an ex-Gwyndaf Evans MG ZR Super 1600 rally car (£32,000-£38,000), a 480bhp ZT V8 Belcup Endurance racer (£30,000-£40,000), a concept MG ZT V8 intended to compete in the German Touring Car Championship (£10,000-£14,000) and two examples of the XPower SV coupé, the last road-going sports car built by MG Sport and Racing (£40,000-£65,000).

Many other cars are being sold at the same event, along with concept vehicles, memorabilia and engine, suspension and bodywork parts to modify your MG or Rover.

The auction, which is being held by Wyles Hardy & Co, takes place at Groveley Lane, Birmingham, next door to the Longbridge factory. If you can’t make it to Birmingham, you can still take part through the live webcast at www.wyleshardy.com.
