John Lennon’s school exercise book containing rough ideas for Beatles hit ‘I am the Walrus’ could fetch more than £100,000 when it goes under the hammer at Madame Tussauds next month.

The 10-page exercise pad, bound in red paper, is packed with doodles, drawings and poems from the future rock hero’s 12-year-old mind and is expected to fetch a staggering £10,000 a page.

The book, entitled ‘My Anthology’, includes a sketch of the Walrus from Lewis Carroll’s ‘The Walrus and the Carpenter’, believed to have been the inspiration for the band’s monster hit ‘I Am The Walrus.’

Louise Cooper, of auctioneers Cooper Owen, said: “He was known as the naughty schoolboy with an enormous amount of talent.

“The book includes ten famous poems, including ‘The Walrus and the Carpenter’. That obviously led in his mind to ‘I Am The Walrus’. It’s a very early link to that song.

The extraordinary rock memorabilia sale, on 19 April, also includes Lennon’s engraved silver christening bracelet, believed to be the earliest piece of Lennon memorabilia, and a log of his ocean voyage to Bermuda on the ‘Megan Jaye’ in 1980.
