Gildings Auctioneers on TV

A HARBOROUGH auction house was the star of the small screen when programme-makers for television show Flog It visited.
A TV crew recorded an auction at Gildings in Roman Way on Tuesday as part of the BBC2 show, to be aired in about six months’ time. The auction drew a crowd of about 300.
In the show, people’s antiques and collectables are valued, with an option for them to be auctioned.
Presenter Paul Martin was joined by experts David Barby and Jethro Miles.
The items auctioned at Gildings had been valued in Corby three weeks ago. The most expensive piece sold was a 1920s butler’s tray, which went for £1,400.
John Gilding, owner of Gildings, said: “We have a great town here and this is one way of promoting it and getting Harborough on the small screen.
“We have been featured on Flog It and Bargain Hunt before but you never really get used to being on television.”
