Elton John auctions wardrobe for charity
Published April 11th, 2006
Almost 10,000 pieces from the personal wardrobes of the singer and his partner David Furnish will be on offer to the public in New York over the next five days.
Among the collection is the polka-dot suit designed by Richard James worn by Sir Elton during his controversial performance with Eminem at the Grammys in 2001.
Other designers featured include Versace, Gucci, Louis Vuitton and Prada.
The clothes and accessories are being sold in the Rockefeller Centre in a specially-created space called Elton’s Closet.
All the proceeds will go to the Elton John Aids Foundation, which since 1992 has raised more than 90 million dollars.
