Cattle Prices Rise at Cockermouth Auction

THE UPWARD TREND in improved entries of prime cattle continued at Cockermouth, last week. The entry was even better than the previous week and meaty cows proved a magnificent trade. Les Brough, of Hill Farm, sold to 92.5p/kg (£744.63).
OTM heifers went up to 98.5p/kg to Messrs Edmondson, Scar Green and cast bulls topped at £807.98 (94.5p/kg), given to Benny Steele, of Easthwaite, for a Limousin.
Clean heifers provided the best trade for some time. James Crichton was back in town with a Limousin heifer at 137.5p/kg and another at 136.5p/kg both bought by Mark Lindsay, butcher, Cockermouth.
Prime bullocks sold to 121.5p/kg for a Continental from G W Whitfield & Sons, ofStowbank, bought by Bowland Foods, Preston.
