Police investigate eBay Police helmet sale
Published May 16th, 2006
Police are carrying out an internal inquiry after an officer allegedly sold a police helmet on eBay.
He was initially suspended but is now back at work.
Police deputy chief officer Chief Superintendent Mike Watson said that no serving officer was currently suspended from duty.
‘The matters referred to are subject to an internal investigation and until these enquiries have been completed, no further information will be forthcoming.’
Those at the centre of the investigations were suspended during the early fact-finding stages of inquiries, he added.
A recent listing of items sold on eBay stretching back about a month failed to find a sale of a Guernsey Police helmet, but a seller from Wiltshire sold one of the force’s badges for £25.44 on 2 May.
