Labour Party claimed to have auctioned copy of Hutton report into David Kelly’s death

AN autographed copy of the Hutton report was auctioned to raise funds for the Labour party, it was claimed last night.

Tory MP Stewart Jackson accused Labour of “hawking” an official report as a “novelty item”.

In a Commons motion he said Labour were “arrogant and crassly insensitive” and called for a public apology.

It was claimed the report into the death of Government scientist David Kelly was signed by PM’s wife Cherie Blair and sold for £400 at a party fundraising event last week at the Arts Club in Mayfair, West London.

Mr Jackson said he would be asking Labour to to apologise and to donate the money to charity.

He added: “Labour should admit it was a bad mistake.” A Labour spokesman said: “We know nothing about it.”
