A football fanatic is selling his role as best man on ebay so he can watch England’s World Cup match on Saturday.

James Circus, whose online name is pokerchipsuk, is offering his seat at the top table at his friend’s wedding in Essex, it was reported today.

Bidding has started at £2 for the role, which includes speech and meal.

Mr Circus, from Wickford in Essex, admitted the bid began as a joke after he bought tickets for the quarter finals but realised it was impossible to go, the Evening Standard newspaper reported.

He intends to turn up for the start of the wedding at 2pm and carry out his duty handing the rings to the groom, but is determined not to miss the start of the match against Portugal at 4pm.
