Christie’s First-Half Auctions Rise 39 Percent to $2.1 Billion

Christie’s International, the world’s No. 1 auction house, sold $2.13 billion of art and collectibles in the first half, just beating rival Sotheby’s.
London-based Christie’s sales rose 39 percent from the first six months of 2005 and were the highest ever, the company said in statement to be released on Monday. Sotheby’s first-half art sales totaled $1.96 billion, up from $1.3 billion a year earlier, according to the company’s Web site
