News seller jailed after dealing in stolen goods

A NEWSPAPER seller who used his stand to buy stolen goods from criminals and drug addicts has been jailed for three years at Croydon Crown Court.
From the stall outside East Croydon station John Poole bought recently stolen items, which he would then sell at car boot sales.
His wife Janet was also jailed for 18 months after she was discovered to have been selling some of the goods on Internet auction site eBay.
The couple, from Thursley Crescent, New Addington, both denied any involvement with the stolen gear and had pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to steal and to acquiring criminal property.But they were convicted at an earlier trial on both counts.
