eBay may cancel Paris Hilton auction
Published August 3rd, 2006
An online auction of Paris Hilton’s jewellery may be halted after internet auction site eBay was threatened with legal action. The 33-piece private collection, including a tiara, a bra-chocker set and crystal-encrusted “SEX” pendant, is being sold on the site by a seller only known as ‘chironclub’.
But now David Hans Schmidt has come forward claiming to be the rightful owner and his attorney, James Bell, has sent the site a cease and desist letter demanding they stop the sale. Schmidt, nicknamed the ‘Sultan of Sleaze’ because of the links to the pornography industry, says he bought the jewellery as part of a larger collection of the star’s belongings for $2,775. The collection was originally auctioned off after Paris’ Los Angeles storage unit – which contained jewellery, clothing, furniture, journals and videotapes – was seized after the ‘Stars Are Blind’ singer allegedly failed to pay her monthly fee.
