Treasured remainder of important family collection of £150,000 Pre-Raphaelite works to sell at Bonhams.

A remarkable series of Pre-Raphaelite works have emerged from a UK private collection to be sold by Bonhams on 14 November 2006. The works to be sold, which include important pieces by Sir Edward Coley Burne-Jones, Bt. (1833 – 1898) and Frederic, Lord Leighton, PRA (1830 – 1896), are the last remaining items from a collection long since dispersed among some of the most significant collectors of Pre-Raphaelite art in the world, including Lord Lloyd-Webber. A collection of important Burne-Jones sketches, an artist’s palette reputedly owned and used by the artist, and a highly significant silk and wool tapestry woven at the Merton Abbey Works of Morris and Company, are all featured in Bonhams’ Sale of 19th Century Paintings and Watercolours at 101 New Bond Street, London.
