The newly reopened Kelvingrove museum in Glasgow is to host an auction featuring the work of top artists, aiming to raise thousands for charity.
Paintings of comedian Billy Connolly, Alex Kapranos of Glasgow band Franz Ferdinand and city landmarks will go under the hammer at the event.

The evening will be compered by River City star Joyce Falconer aka Roisin.

Carol Smillie, Shereen Nanjiani and BBC Scotland’s David Robertson will introduce the paintings.

The high profile event will raise cash for seven charities.

These include CHAS, ChildLine, Maggie’s Centre, Meningitis Trust, The Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice, The Third Step and Yorkhill Childrens Foundation.

Paintings of Billy Connolly running from the Clyde semi-naked and Alex Kapranos singing into a deep fried mars bar are among those to be auctioned off on the night.

A Peter Howson original canvas will also be up for auction.
