Handset problems and technical glitches mean a mobile version of Skype won’t be released anytime soon
Most mobile-phone users will still have to wait some time for Internet telephony company Skype’s mobile service because of technical hurdles and a lack of suitable handsets, Skype’s chief executive was quoted as saying in a Finnish newspaper on Thursday.
Skype is working on being able to offer the service to the biggest mobile-phone makers and for the Symbian operating system used by Nokia, among others, Niklas Zennström, Skype chief executive and co-founder, told Helsingin Sanomat.
The company had hoped to offer its service for handsets made by Nokia and others last year. But the process has been harder than expected, he said.
