Starship Enterprise sold for 300,000 pounds

A model of the Starship Enterprise, the iconic spaceship used in the science fiction series Star Trek, has fetched $576,000 (£307,000) at an auction in New York.
The sale of the 78in model, used extensively during filming of Star Trek: The Next Generation, pushed the total for the three-day sale of Star Trek memorabilia above $7 million (£3.7 million) - more than twice the expected amount.
In all, 1,000 lots of props, costumes, models and other memorabilia went under the hammer at Christie’s in New York.

The Enterprise model, which also deatured in the film Star Trek: Generations, had been expected to fetch up to $25,000 (£13,360).
