Cello bow makes record auction price
Published December 1st, 2006
A 200 year-old cello bow, made by Francois Xavier Tourte, has set a new auction record after being brought by an anonymous leading European Cellist.
The authenticity of the bow added to its value and is the highest selling bow ever beating the previous best by almost $50,000. The auction was part of large online musical instrument sale that made in excess of $4,000,000 only being beaten by Christie’s New York sale earlier this year, which included the ‘Hammer’ Stradivari.
