The British artist Banksy, who has drawn notice in recent years for his graffiti and public art pieces, may fetch as much as £50,000 pounds at a mid-winter sale at Sotheby’s London Feb. 7-8.

The auction estimate is for one of his more conventional acrylic and spray paint on canvas pieces titled “Bombing Over Middle England”. The work is approximately 92 by 183cm. or 36in. by 72in., signed on the overlap and commissioned from Banksy in 2001, it shows three figures lawn bowling with cartoonish black ball-and-fuse bombs.

Banksy is the pseudonym of a well-known English graffiti artist from Bristol. His artwork is often political and/or humorous in nature. His street art, which combines graffiti with a distinctive stencilling technique, has appeared in London and in cities around the world.
