Half a dozen rare etchings by British artist Lucian Freud could fetch up to £100,000.

Edinburgh-based auctioneers Lyon and Turnbull hope the unusual works, by an artist better known for his oil paintings, will start a bidding frenzy when they go under the hammer later this week.

“He’s probably one of the few great living UK artists,” said Ben Hanly, head of modern and contemporary art at the auction house.
