Auctions in the North West saw a significant drop in the number of lots offered, lots sold and money raised last month.

Total lots offered in the North West in December 2006 were down 12.2% compared to December 2005. Lots sold were down 24.6% and money raised was down 58.4%, according to Essential Information Group, the auction data specialists.

But Merseyside saw little change in its auctions between December 2005 and December 2006. Figures show 124 lots were offered in December 2005, compared to 127 in December 2006. In December 2005, 82 lots were sold compared to 81 in December 2006.

But over the whole of 2006, there was a significant drop in the number of lots offered for sale in Merseyside, with just 1,575 offered, compared to 1,864 in 2005. However, there was little difference between the percentage of properties sold over the year, with 60% sold in 2005, a figure of 1,122, and 68%, or 1,076, in 2006.
