Lordship of West Ilsley for auction
Published February 4th, 2007
Manorial Auctioneers are inviting bids of around £8,250 for the title, which formed part of the Manor of Sonning around the time of the Doomsday Book, but by the 13th Century, was a manor in its own right.
At that time, it was held by the Beaumont family, who were also the Earls of Leicester.
The western boundary of the manor is Old Street, which is now the A34.
Bids for the title can be lodged via telephone, fax, letter or email, and will be put to the trustees who hold the title after it was sold by the Loyd family around 20 years ago.
The winning bidder can use the title on their passport and credit cards, and are eligible for membership of the Manorial Society of Great Britain.
