Cambridgeshire Police auction a scam

CEN News AN ONLINE auction of property recovered by police has been labelled a “scam” by irate bidders thwarted by a glitch in the payment system.
Cambridgeshire police launched the new system for selling off property recovered but left unclaimed last year, using an internet auction site that allows people to view and bid for items.
But for the last week the online payment system, run by Nochex, has refused to allow new buyers to register their details and make a bid - only companies that buy and sell goods with a value of more than £1,000 a month can sign up.
News reader George Partington said: “These auctions are a bit of a scam really because they are a closed shop to businesses and discriminate against non-business bidders.”
A police spokesman said the glitch was temporary, and the force was assured the auction site would be working properly “as soon as possible”.
The auction website can be found at cambs-police.
