British Legion to receive 7,500 pounds from auction

A cheque for more than £7,500 will be presented to members of the Norfolk branch of the Royal British Legion today following an online auction of special Norwich City replica shirts.

Last November, the football club auctioned 24 first team shirts, each embroidered with a poppy to commemorate Remembrance Day.

The shirts were produced and a number worn for the Canaries’ league match with West Bromwich Albion on November 11, a game City won 1-0 thanks to a goal from Robert Earnshaw.

Following a two-week online auction, a grand total of £7,540 was raised by fans snapping-up the shirts.
