Ebay Motors has sold its one millionth car online.

The car auction website sold a 1998 Saab to a buyer in Kent to notch up the milestone.

Jody Ford, senior manager at Ebay Motors, said the millionth sale marked a significant shift in the UK’s car buying behaviour.

“Motorists are increasingly turning to the internet to find vehicles, parts and accessories and a vehicle now sells on eBay Motors every minute. We are also seeing hundreds of dealers maximising their sales by using the site,” Ford said.

The millionth sale comes five years after the website launched in the UK.

Ebay claims it is the most visited automotive site in the UK with an average of 3.5 million unique users every month.
