Shropshire auctioneers move rejected by council

Shrewsbury auctioneers Hall’s has been dealt a blow after a bid to relocate its auction house and offices from Shrewsbury town centre to the new livestock market was rejected.

The Welsh Bridge-based firm had wanted to relocate to Battlefield to provide a purpose-built fine art and general sale room and offices next to its livestock market operation.

Last night councillors turned down the application, saying the move would have a negative impact on the town centre and was not essential for agricultural or forestry purposes.
