In Tennants Summer Stamp Sale on Wednesday, 13th June there will be a superb used specialized Great Britain Stamp Collection of Queen Victoria engraved issues covering 1840. To include 1d blacks, 2d blues and 1d reds, with all the plate numbers and a range of varieties and flaws. The collection comes from a private collector in Leeds and has some postal history, embossed issues and surface printed issues. Lot 184, this is a highly specialized collection that rarely comes onto the market and is estimated to sell for £6,000-£8,000.

It is complemented by another similar collection (lot 168) of King Edward VII to early Queen Elizabeth II stamps including shades, flaws and varieties, estimate £600-£800.

For those collecting Commonwealth Countries’ stamps, there are a number of lots including lot 95, a Four Volume Great Britain and Commonwealth Mint and Used Collection. Estimate £1,000-£1,500. Also, lot 96, a Three Volume Commonwealth Collection from King George VI to early Queen Elizabeth II, estimate £800-£1,200.

Individual countries from around the world are also well represented. For example, lot 333, a collection of Swedish Stamps from 1855-2000, estimate £1,500-£2,000 and lot 294, individual stamps and sets, such as Hong Kong 1976 30c mint definitive, unmounted block of four, imperforated, estimate £250-£350.

There is also a 1858-1879 1d red plate 115 of Great Britain used in Cyprus, with the postmark D48 indicating the Headquarters Army Camp in Nicosia. This particular stamp (lot 287) is unrecorded for use in Cyprus and is thought to have been taken out to Cyprus in the pocket of a soldier and then used by him whilst based there, estimate £300-£400.

There is also a strong Postcard Section in the sale including a number of albums relating to the North East and Yorkshire, whilst in the Cigarette Card Section there are over one hundred lots ranging from individual albums to large collections.
