A first edition of ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’, JK Rowling’s debut Harry Potter story, will be put up for auction at Bonhams in London.

The book goes under the hammer later this month and should fetch a substantial amount given that previous first editions of the same book have gone for more than 10,000 pounds at other sales.

Bonhams’ book specialist Luke Batterham says the book was one of the first 1,000 copies to be printed in the first run in 1997.
