New online auction service for surplus stock

Published June 13th, 2007

An online auction site to allow retailers to get rid of surplus stock has been launched in Scotland.

Kangaroo Auctions is the first online service in Scotland aimed at retailers and is running the service in partnership with eBay.

Retailers deliver their unwanted stock to Kangaroo Auctions, or send it direct to its centre in Dundee.

Kangaroo Auctions the3n values the items, photographs them and puts them online.

For items that sell for £30 or more, the seller gets two-thirds of the sale price.

The service is also open to the general public.

Kangaroo Auctions is the brainchild of Steven Hourston and Chris Stevens, directors of Kangaroo Self Storage in Dundee, and both former directors of the stock-market-listed Lok’nStore Group.
