Rare bank notes for charity auction
Published July 2nd, 2007
AN auction of rare bank notes, stamps and coins will take place in the city later this year.
Tens of thousands of pounds are set to be raised for charity by the event, due to take place on the Mound in September.
Around 200 lots will be available for collectors, with a range of memorabilia on offer.
The Bank of Scotland has agreed to match every penny raised, up to the value of £50,000, and proceeds will go to the British Heart Foundation.
Bank of Scotland treasurer Colin Matthew said: “Bank note collecting appears to be more popular today than ever before.
“We are delighted to be able to use this historic event to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.”
