Fine snuff boxes auctioned at Bonhams

Published July 10th, 2007

A collection of fine snuff boxes sourced by Bonhams’ office in Chester have exceeded all expectations by selling for over ten times their estimate at an important sale of Fine Silver at Bonhams in London on the 4 July 2007.

The five boxes entered into the sale had a pre-sale collective estimate of about £11,500. Unprecedented interest and highly competitive bidding pushed the post-sale total for these items alone to £115,200. In the wake of the recent nation-wide smoking ban, it is interesting to note that high prices are being achieved for antique tobacco containers.
