Lordships of Alston Moor and Kirkhaugh for auction

The titles are to be offered at auction later this month. Due to be sold in London, the manors are expected to fetch between £8,000 and £9,000 each. In total, 25 lordships of the manor are to be offered at Manorial Auctioneers on July 26.
Owners of both titles at present are the governors of Greenwich Hospital, a charity established in the 17th Century by Queen Mary II.
They were granted numerous lordships of the manor by King George I.
These included Cumbrian town Alston and Kirkhaugh, a nearby village in Northumberland.
The new holders will be able to use the title on passports, credit cards and cheque books.
Other titles will be auctioned for the counties of Leicestershire, Devon, Northumberland, Cornwall, Shropshire, Cheshire,
Staffordshire, Yorkshire, Suffolk, Worcestershire, Somerset, Gloucestershire,
Hampshire, Essex, City of London.
