Scottish livestock auctions resume after Footh and Mouth ban

Published August 27th, 2007

Auction marts, farm sales and agricultural shows are operating again in Scotland after foot-and-mouth measures have been eased further.
Restrictions were brought in last month after an outbreak of the disease in Surrey.

The Scottish Executive decided to relax the restrictions after the EU lifted the export ban on UK meat and dairy products last week.

Livestock dealers and auctioneers have welcomed the move.

Scotland has marts across the country in farming areas including Inverurie, Dingwall and Perth.
