Listed Summerseat railway shed for auction

Published December 11th, 2007

A Victorian railway goods shed which was designated listed building status last month is being auctioned off in a move that has angered a local historian.

Mark Sanderson wants the East Lancashire Railway and Bury Council to withdraw the historical Rowlands Warehouse in Rowlands Road, Summerseat, from the sale, scheduled to take place in Haydock next Wednesday.

The building, which has just gained grade two status, has a guide price of £190,000.
