Auctioneer Wins Dick Harrison Trust Prize

Doreen Fell, from Ulverston, was presented with the prize by Nick Utting, chairman of the Dick Harrison Trust, which provides grants for students hopeing for a career in auctioneering.
The auctioneering degree course was set up by the Livestock Auctioneers Association of England and Wales and the Institute of Auctioneers and Appraisers in Scotland almost three years ago. The four-year long distance learning course is based at Newton Rigg.
Chris Dodds, of the Livestock Auctioneers Association, said: “The need for a formal qualification has become much more apparent in the last decade. It’s the only course of its kind.”
The Livestock Auctioneers’ Association is the national organisation representing auctioneering firms which occupy and run the livestock auction markets of England and Wales.
