Tom Keating Fake Monet makes £15,000 at JP Humbert Towcester auction

Tom Keating’s copy of Claude Monet’s 1908 Santa Maria della Salute and Grand Canal, which appeared on the BBC’s Antiques Roadshow in the 1990s, started bidding at £12,000 and finished with a final bid of £15,000.
An anonymous telephone bidder, thought to be from London, brought the painting at the JP Humbert auction in Towcester.

Kivells Auctioneers Report Increased Livestock Sales

Kivells report an increase in business of just over 20 per cent at their three livestock markets in Devon and Cornwall during 2007.
Despite foot-and-mouth and the markets being either closed or running under government restrictions, Kivells says there was an increase in selling at their centres at Holsworthy, Liskeard and Hallworthy.

Oldest Arsenal football medal for auction

The oldest known existing Arsenal medal is being auctioned.
The medal was presented to Richard Horsington at the club’s first ever cup final, the London FA Challenge Cup in 1890.
The match saw Royal Arsenal lose 1-0 to Old Westminster at the Kennington Oval, watched by 5,000 spectators.
