Wolverhampton Pigeon Auction

Published February 4th, 2008

Organised by Wolverhampton Tumbler Club, the auction featured around 250 pigeons ranging in price from £2 to £40.

Wolverhampton Tumblers are a type of pigeon first bred in the area back in the 1950s, explained club secretary Albert Reynolds.

Mr Reynolds, who took charge of yesterday’s auction, said: “I caught the pigeon bug from my old man. I’ve been involved in birds since I was seven and I’m 77 now.

“It’s just a fascination I’ve got – some people like dogs or cats but I like pigeons.

“I enjoy showing my birds and like the fact that you can release them into the sky and they’ll always come back home.”
