MINNIE DRIVER AUCTIONS OFF LUNCH DATE FOR OXFAM
Published March 7th, 2008
British actress MINNIE DRIVER is auctioning off a $100,000 (£50,000) lunch date as part of an upcoming charity auction.
As part of a joint promotional venture between Driver’s hit U.S. TV show The Riches and one of her favourite charities, Oxfam America, Driver is offering to join a fan for a meal.
The actress will put herself on the auction block on eBay.com’s The Riches Charity Auction, which will run for 10 days from 13 March (08).
The winning bidder will get the cash and an opportunity to meet Driver over lunch.
The auction marks a first for eBay.com - the website has never offered up such a large sum of money.
The top bidder will also receive memorabilia from The Riches, in which Driver stars with Eddie Izzard.
All proceeds from the winning bid will be donated to Oxfam America. Driver is an ambassador for the charity.
Driver isn’t the only star offering herself up for auction; Scarlett Johansson is also hoping to raise cash for Oxfam by offering a fan the chance to accompany her to the premiere of her next movie He’s Just Not That Into You in Los Angeles in June 2009.
The Johansson date is currently being auctioned off on eBay.
And Colin Firth recently offered up a date to the premiere of his new film Mama Mia! in July (08).
